Style Round-Up: Travel Shoes

Travel Shoes

When it comes to travel shoes, I need three specific things – Style, Comfort, and Simplicity. I travel a lot and I need a shoe that can transition from plane to street. At the airport, I need a shoe that is easy to take off while going through security – no, I don’t have TSA Pre-check. When I’m traveling, I tend to walk almost everywhere. I’ve clocked over 20 miles in just one day, so comfort is key! Of course, they need to look good too. I think I’d sacrifice comfort for looks if it really came down to it – but luckily, with these options, I don’t have to choose!

The Cool Slide

Honestly, one of my all time favorite shoes is my Van’s Classic Slip-On. I own two pairs, the perforated black, and the perforated silver cloud suede. They are SO comfortable, SO easy, and edgy while still being cute! I wear these with leggings on my way to spin, at the airport, and I even wore them all over New Zealand!

What to Wear: These are my go to shoes. I love to wear them with a sporty outfit, like leggings and a tank top with a flannel tied around my waist – hello 1990’s!

The Classic Flat

Ballet flats are perfect for a simple but polished look. They can easily be dressed down and are perfect for running through the airport if you’re short on time. I love the Tieks Ballerina Pink flats. They’re lightweight and easy to throw in your bag. They fold up into a small wallet-sized pouch for extra space, too! There are a ton of options for color and texture – vegan fabrics and both matte & patent leather.

What to Wear: I’ll pair ballet flats with almost any outfit, but I love them with a little sun dress!

The Edgy Sneaker

I’m obsessed with my new Linea Paolo Wedge Sneakers. While these don’t look practical, they actually are! They provide an edgy look while being super comfortable. And the great thing is – because of the wedge, they are sturdy and easy to walk in. The padding in this shoe holds up during long walks.

What to Wear: I wear these with a pair of dark-wash jeans and a white t-shirt.

The Simple Sandal

Sam Edelman makes great sandals. I love the Gigi style. I bought two pairs for my honeymoon – the almond patent color is my favorite. It’s neutral and classy. I also own a pair in black. They’re comfortable, chic, and easy to wear with any summer staple. I ran all over Italy in mine and wouldn’t trade them for any other sandal!

What to Wear: My Sam’s go perfectly with a maxi dress!

The Everyday Bootie

Booties. Everyone needs a solid pair of booties. I love the short-style as opposed to the knee high or mid-calf look. I think this style lends itself better to a casual or dressy look. These Toms Leila’s can be worn with a sun dress and denim jacket in the spring, or with leggings and a sweater in the fall. With the back zipper, they are easy to slip off quickly while going through security. The 2-inch heel adds a bit of character without making them impossible to walk in.

What to Wear: I like to wear my booties with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater.
