OMG you guys, my husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary! 10 years! I cannot believe Paul and I have been together for so long (dating, not married the whole time). We’ve shared so many fun memories, but of course, my favorites revolve around travel!
I thought it would be fun to share ten (it’s hard to limit myself) of my favorite travel photos of us on the blog to celebrate! If you’re interested in seeing photo after photo of us, continue on! And if not, that’s ok too… because that means you won’t be able to see how much I’ve aged, ha!
10 of My Favorite Travel Photos as a Couple
I’ve always dreamed of visiting Scotland. In fact, if you had asked me in Junior High, where I saw myself in 10 years, I would have said “Living in Scotland, working as a photographer for a magazine”. Ha!
We visited Amsterdam on our first European trip together. It was our first stop on our trip and we fell in love. The city is so walkable and friendly. I was surprised by how much I loved it and can’t wait to go back!
Mackinac Island, Michigan
Mackinac Island holds a very special place in our hearts. We were married on the island in 2015. If you’ve never been, it’s a must! Nowadays it’s a tourist spot, sitting in the middle of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron in Northern Michigan. There are no cars allowed on the island, only bikes and horses! You’ll literally feel as though you’ve stepped back in time, as the majority of the island was built during the Victorian era.
Hamilton Island, Australia
Another favorite (I think I say that too much)! Situated in the Whitsunday Islands along the Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island is a stunner! Again, another island without cars… I’m seeing a theme here! We got engaged in Cairns, Australia during this same trip, so this was sort of like a mini “pre-honeymoon” for us! The beaches are perfect and the island has great hiking.
Oh yes, the typical Sydney Bridge photo. But really, Sydney Harbor is so lively and fun. I could sit along the Opera House for hours just enjoying a cold drink and people watching.
Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
For our first wedding anniversary, Paul surprised me with a trip to Vancouver. He managed to get me minutes from landing in Vancouver before I found out where we were going! It was an incredible surprise! I think we could have made it all the way to customs without me finding out, if it hadn’t been for the pesky landing cards, ha! We rented a car during our trip and drove up to Whistler for the day. Even though it was the middle of summer, there was still snow on the ground up on the mountains. And yes, I WAS the only one in sandals. SMH.
An absolute FAVORITE! The Amalfi Coast is hands-down the most beautiful place I have ever been. Lush mountains littered with colorful homes, bright blue water and unlimited Italian food! We spent some time here on our honeymoon and it could not have been more perfect!
This winter we spent three months in Europe and for my birthday, we drove to Colmar, France. This medieval village is straight out of a Disney movie… hello, Beauty and the Beast! Although the old part of town is quite small, you can easily spend a few days obsessing over the architecture and drinking wine along the canal.
Poland really blew me away! We spent two weeks in Poland and Warsaw was my favorite stop. Unfortunately, like much of Europe, the old city was destroyed during World War Two. The city has been completely remodeled to look like the original. It’s such an amazing city with so much history. My grandma also grew up near Warsaw, so it holds an extra special spot in my heart.
Milford Sound, New Zealand
Last (but certainly not least) on the list is the STUNNING Milford Sound in the New Zealand’s South Island. We spent a few weeks driving through both the north & the south islands, and the south takes the cake (mmm, cake!). The natural beauty is unreal and there are so many things to do outdoors. We took a four-hour kayaking trip through Milford Sound. And to be honest, that was the first time either of us had ever kayaked! It was a crazy adventure. Although it’s a Sound, when the weather warms up, it can create waves in the water, and some of them got really high. I can’t believe we made it the whole time without capsizing! And if thats not enough to be excited about, we also had penguins swimming around us!
As you can see, we have shared so many incredible adventures together over these past ten years! I can’t wait to see where else life takes us! HAPPY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY, PAUL!
