Welcome to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. The skies are blue, there’s a warm ocean breeze, and over 50 acres of colorful ranunculus flowers. Located in Northern San Diego County, the Flower Fields have been a Southern California staple for over 60 years. While they only bloom for a few months in the spring, the flowers are so lush & colorful, it’s more than worth a visit! And as an added bonus, it’s only about 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego… And, only about an hour south of the Anaheim area (side-trip to Disney, anyone?!).
Paul and I spent a long weekend in SoCal and stopped by the Flower Fields. Just imagine rolling hills covered in millions of brightly colored Ranunculus. With it’s close proximity to the ocean, it gets super breezy on the hills. I have no idea how bloggers get perfectly posed photos without the wind blowing their hair in their face and their tops over their heads, ha!
While I imagine the fields are always busy, there does seem to be adequate parking. They charge an admission fee to enter the fields (you can opt to purchase them online, but there is a small service charge added). The property is huge, so plan to spend a minimum of 2 hours here. Their website is a great resource for visitor information. For those of you looking to bring home a bouquet to brighten up your home, there is a garden center located next to the parking lot where fresh cut flowers, seeds, and garden accessories can be purchased.
Although the breeze was a little intense, the stunning views made up for my wind-tangled hair. The perfect blue sky, views of the ocean, and the endless colorful flowers are really a sight-to-be-seen! My favorite where the bright pink flowers and the mix of pastels. I would definitely visit the Flower Fields again, but maybe I’d wear a pony-tail!
