You guysss… I have an exciting announcement – I am SO pumped! I am visiting Europe for three months! My husband and I packed our bags and jumped on a plane this week and won’t return to the states until January 2018. This has been a dream of mine for so many years and I can’t believe it’s finally coming true!
Europe is the ultimate destination – the rich history, amazing architecture, and the culture… it just blows me away. It’s so unique from where I grew up. I could spend the rest of my life in Europe and still not be able to get enough of it!
Background on Our Location
We are starting our adventure in Poland. I am really interested in researching my ancestry. My grandmother grew up in a small village in Germany (now located in current day Poland) during World War 2. In the early 1950’s she immigrated to the United States with her family. Thus, we are going to do a little ancestral journey through Poland. I can’t wait to visit the village my grandma grew up in and see the place she called home.
München oder Pleite
Over the course of a week, we will make our way to Germany and set up camp in Munich! Munich is one of my all time favorite cities (I know I say that a lot, but it’s true). While in Munich, we will take day trips from time to time – please send recommendations on must-visit spots! At the end of our journey, we will make our way to the United Kingdom before heading back to the States.
For the last two years, I’ve been teaching myself German. Honestly, I’m not great, but I’m really looking forward to putting my new language to use – and hopefully, improve my pronunciation. I’ve always wanted to be fluent – although that’s a tall stretch in such a short time, a gal has to have goals! I’m also really looking forward to exploring our new neighborhood in Munich. Coffee shops, pubs, museums, gardens, I just can’t wait!
I hope you’ll follow along on our little adventure! I’m planning to continue to post updates while we are traveling. Anyone in Munich and want to meet for kaffee oder bier?!
What advice do you have for a temporary move to another country?! What day trips do you recommend from Munich?
